bullet  Lowe's Helps Beautify Bovenschen School

In the back of school, there is a little courtyard dedicated to former assistant principal Angie O'Donnell.  It has a nice shade tree and a picnic table. There are also some flower beds specially designed to be accessible to students in wheelchairs.

It was first created about 20 years ago.  Over the years, the wind, rain and snow had taken their toll on the wooden flower boxes and the picnic table.  And, parts of the courtyard were too shady for grass to grow very well. This year, the courtyard has a new look, thanks to some Bovenschen parents and the nice People at the Warren Lowe's Home Improvement Store on Van Dyke.

Bovenschen students, parents and about 20 Lowe's employees worked together to plant flowers, shrubs and perennial plants throughout the courtyard.

All of the Lowe's employees donated their time on their day off to come make our courtyard beautiful.

Lowe's employees renovated our planter boxes and installed paver bricks where the grass would not grow, so what was once just dirt is now a beautiful walkway.  They also built retaining walls for all of the flower beds.

We are so thankful to Lowe's and the Bovenschen parents who made this project a reality.
