Management Training

In Management Training, we provide programs year-round to school board members, superintendents, central office administrators, principals, teachers, school psychologists and support staff. We work closely with the MISD Superintendent and Board of Education to bring in high caliber speakers for special events.

We cooperate with other MISD departments, local districts, associations and other ISDs to obtain speakers for training and in-service programs. We also collaborate with various universities to offer graduate credit for our Management Training programs. Those not interested in graduate credit may elect to take State Board-Continuing Education Units (SB-CEUs) as offered.

Management Academy

Management Academy focuses on issues continually highlighted in importance by the nation’s media under the auspices that what education does not create, it must solve. The professionals dedicated to researching these critical issues have been engaged to prepare Michigan’s school personnel to deal successfully with their solutions.

Students learn how to build community consensus and support for school and curriculum reform through effective communication. They find out how to involve a variety of publics in school improvement and curriculum reform, and they become involved in compelling and in-depth discussions on the projected cultural blending of the Nation and its implications for the educational system. They also study conflict resolution, multiculturalism and empowerment strategies for at-risk youths and understand psychological and sociological characteristics of youth violence.

Lunch and Learn Series

Our programs reflect the critical issues of today. They are geared to the interests of county educators, business and community leaders, and legislators whom we often invite to our presentations. Participants enjoy a luncheon followed by a discussion involving key concerns relating to the many crises in education today. This is a closed program, open by invitation of the superintendent only.
