DistanceLearning
|
|
|
Overview |
|
For some, Distance Learning is limited to the notion of low enrollment
classes, linking a handful of students in one school district with a
handful of students in others to extend the curricular offerings in all
school districts involved. For us, at the Macomb Intermediate School
District, Distance Learning is that and so much more! Curriculum and
Professional Development are enhanced and extended through on-line
courses, virtual field trips to zoos, museums and science centers,
collaborative events linking students from around the county to around
the state to around the world, and special events linking to our
students to authors and specialists. In short, we bring a world of
resources to our students each and every day.
If you have questions or need more information about distance
learning via compressed video at the Macomb ISD, please contact Arnie
Comer via email at AComer@misd.net.

ASK schedule for the
2011-2012 school year

The ASK
Program, (Authors Specialist, and Knowledge), provides students with the opportunity to interview an author or a
knowledgeable subject specialist in the topic they are
reading about in the novel. The program uses excellent children's literature,
journal writing and interviewing via vide conferencing to promote reading for
comprehension and understanding.
Special thanks to
Dr. Raymond Kettel who designed this project and shared it with other educators.

LAPs schedule for the 2011 - 2012
school year

This complimentary program teaches
Michigan third and fourth graders
about Michigan’s history and natural
resources.
In addition to helping youngsters
and their teachers learn more about
their state, its history and
resources, it is also very 'brain
compatible'. In order to increase
public knowledge and appreciation
for Michigan’s wonderful natural
resources, EDCO and the Michigan
Department of Natural Resources
partnered to create L.A.P.’s™
To register go to
www.misd.net/dl
Visit our
L.A.P.'s™ page
to find out how to gain access
to the materials for the program
through the MISD Blackboard Learn
and to learn more about the program.
Along with the "must have" materials
there are supplemental lesson plans
and resources for you to use as
well.
Michigan 3rd and 4th grade teachers: You can find the L.A.P.’s™ materials for the 2011-2012 school year from the MISD - MOST Blackboard Portal.

Field Trip Fridays |
|
The new program
includes pre-visit activities on
gravity and air resistance, speed,
and everyone’s favorite Happy Crab
Hypothesis Sheet. Only now the
hypothesis is about what forces make
the crab move instead of what simple
machines are inside. The show itself
is now about balanced and unbalanced
forces, pushes and pulls, and
tracing the energy flow through the
toys (the chattering teeth still
make an appearance about halfway
through the show).
Gadget
Works Registration is now closed for
the 2011-2012 school year.
