Overview

MISD is committed to an educational program of options that recognize the unique value, needs and talents of each student. Instructional programs for the gifted and talented are an integral part of this commitment. Under the guidance of the MISD, local gifted and talented districts will differentiate instruction pre K-12, and offer a continuum of services designed to encourage maximum development of every student's potential.

Overview of Gifted Education

Those seeking information about gifted children and the various methods that would best serve their unique needs should have a representative description of the key ideas about identifying and serving the gifted.  The Macomb Intermediate School District's gifted and talented website addresses this need by serving as a concise, clear reference tool for individuals who are interested in the welfare of gifted children.  To this end, the website offers information that:

  • educates individuals about identifying characteristics of gifted children
  • describes the screening process
  • defines common terms associated with gifted and    talented
  • recommends educational practices for gifted students
  • provides strategic assistance to parents of a gifted child
  • informs individuals about books, journals, national and regional organizations, conferences, community resources, and other   websites
