The Process
1. First, for each Web site, answer the appropriate question:
- Globe Theatre-1
- How was the original Globe destroyed?
- Globe Theatre-2
- If you were living in London during Shakespeare's time, why would you visit the Bankside?
- Globe Theatre-3
- Summarize what Sam Wanamaker did to have the Globe rebuilt.
- Globe Theatre-4
- Summarize the history of the Globe including what has happened in 1996.
- Globe Theatre-5
- Under what light will plays in the new Globe be performed?
- Globe Theatre-6
- Using five details, describe how the Globe was built.
2. Using the information you gathered from your Globe Search, discuss with your group possible topics for individual oral presentations on an aspect of the Globe Theatre. Each student must make his or her own presentation that is different from other group members.
3. Each presentation must include a visual project based on your Globe Search plus two or three other resources from Encarta, standard reference materials, and/or books.
Learning Advice
- Take notes on all research in Globe Search and other books and materials.
- Create a visual project that is large and bold enough for all to see.
- Go beyond Globe Search and be creative!
Conclusion
- Congratulations! Your visual project and presentation help you imagine how the Globe Theatre appeared when Elizabethan audiences watched Shakespeare's plays.
