Students in this program work four days per
week in various departments of two major
retailers at a local mall. In-class
instruction is combined with Community Based
Instruction to assist the students in
learning the proper social and vocational
skills needed for employment in a retail
environment. Employment and independent
living are the two goals of this class.

At Lord & Taylor the classroom
collects hangers from each cash
register station. They also
replenish the sensors needed to
secure the clothing.

We collect garbage from the
registers and stock rooms.
|

Sometimes we work in the
shipping/receiving room breaking
down boxes after big shipments of
inventory.
|
The Inside America Foundation is a
thrift store in Sterling Heights.
Our class inspects, sorts and hangs
clothing in the receiving room.
|
The clothes are priced and then put
on the racks according to gender,
style, size and color.
|
We check the racks to make sure
everything is neatly on a hanger and
in the right section.
