Curriculum

Transition concentrated. All facets of the curriculum relate to transition and are individualized to meet the needs of the student.

Community based. All classrooms are involved in community based instruction.  Some classes work in various hospitals, nursing homes and area shopping malls. Other classes learn to use resources in the area such as banks, post offices, restaurants and parks.

School to work focused. By collaborating with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth - Rehabilitation Services, the school has been able to  provide students with individualized training, job coaching, vocational evaluation, job development and work/study support. This component is in addition to established classroom activities. The "School to Work" program received the Governor's "Innovators to Watch" Award, a statewide recognition.
