Curriculum Development

At Maple Lane, the program for each child is customized to help each individual achieve his or her potential. Our curriculum includes programs to teach students social skills, problem-solving, academics and life skills.

Our "Problem Solving Group" teaches students to apply critical thinking, logic, and personal experiences to solve problems. We also have a "Friendship Group" that teaches students how to choose good friends and how to be a good friend to others.

We use the "Discovery Works" Science series by Silver Burdett. The "Handwriting Without Tears" handwriting program has been successfully received by students and staff. We have implemented the McGraw Hill Social Studies series. We have selected the Scott Foresman Reading and Language series to pilot during the 2000-2001 school year.
