 The
booklet of approximately 75 pages has assessment activities for
each of the six content strands outlined in the Michigan
Curriculum Framework for K-12. Activities focus on assessing a
student’s performance and are intended to be used after
instruction has taken place. Many of the activities were developed
from lessons taught by teachers and so have a degree of
"classroom testing". The book includes an Inventory of
"Big Ideas" (vital understanding) in Mathematics -
specific concepts and skills that children cannot afford to be
without. The list is intended to be "teacher friendly"
and to help diagnose where additional efforts are needed. The book
also contains a list of software, Internet activities, and
children’s literature for learning mathematics.
