Title of Product:(#19) Using Children’s Literature to Teach Mathematics K-6

Target Audience: Children K-6
Revised 2003-2004 - 40 New Titles

Description:

The purpose of this booklet is to provide K-6 teachers with a convenient resource that will help in the development of lessons that use literature to teach mathematics. The booklet contains reviews of over 100 children’s literature books. Each of the children’s books has been reviewed by qualified professional educators and is correlated to the appropriate strand, standard, and benchmark of the Michigan Curriculum Framework for Mathematics. Each review also contains a brief description of the book and a list of vocabulary words used in mathematics, with key words from the Michigan Essential Goals and Objectives in Mathematics indicated with an asterisk.  Selected books from each strand contain instructional examples from MI CLiMB, which clarifies benchmarks in the Michigan Curriculum Framework.

The revision also contains interactive web sites for children to visit.  For the teacher there is a quick reference on how to use the MI CLiMB disc.
