Neil Reid High School program is designed to teach pro-social skills
so that students may return to classes in their local school district;
provide an educational setting where individual student needs can be
addressed in a smaller classroom setting; encourage students to become
independent and more prepared for competitive employment; begin the
transition from school to work and school to community; and, enable
students to earn a high school diploma.
Additional Services
A social worker, nurse, school
psychologist, speech and language pathologist, teacher consultant and consulting psychiatrist are available to students
at Neil Reid High School.
School Day
Students are not permitted to leave school premises during school
hours. Leaving school property will result in an in-school suspension.

Homeroom 7:11 a.m. – 7:26 a.m.
1st Hour 7:28 a.m. – 8:16 a.m.
2nd Hour 8:18 a.m. – 9:06 a.m.
3rd Hour 9:08 a.m. – 9:56 a.m.
4th Hour 9:58 a.m. – 10:46 a.m.
5th Hour 1st Lunch 10:48 a.m. – 11:18 a.m.
5th Hour 11:18 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.
5th Hour 10:48 a.m. – 11:18 a.m.
5th Hour 2nd Lunch 11:18 a.m. – 11:48 a.m.
5th Hour 11:48 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.
6th Hour 12:12 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
7th Hour 1:02 p.m. – 1:50 p.m.
Lunch
All students remain at school and eat lunch in our school gymnasium.
Students may purchase a hot lunch, beverage or snack. Free or adjusted
lunch prices are available for those students who qualify. Please
contact the school office at (586) 469-1590 for further information.
Graduation Requirements
Students follow their local school district’s requirements for
graduation. Students are assigned class standing at the time of the IEP.
Class assignments are determined at the beginning of each school year
or at the IEPC meeting.
Report Cards/Progress Reports
Report cards are issued four times a year. Each report card reflects
the student’s grades for each course of study. Citizenship remarks and
attendance will also be noted.
Progress reports are sent out midway through each quarter. Parents
are encouraged to discuss these reports with their child. Parents are
welcome to contact teachers to monitor progress as necessary by calling
the school office at 469-1590.
Attendance
Students will receive an "F" after 10 excused/unexcused
absences during a marking period. Students/parents may request an
administrative review if they feel there is extenuating circumstances.

Attendance Policy
Parent responsibility:
- Call Transportation as soon as possible to notify them that your
child will not be attending school (228-3333).
- Call the school office (469-1590) and report your child’s
absence.
Student responsibility:
- Confirm with homeroom staff whether absence was excused or
unexcused.
- If your absence is excused, request makeup work on your return
to school.
Early Dismissal
It is best to make prior arrangements with the school when a student
is to be dismissed from school early. A parent/guardian is required to
sign an early dismissal sheet at the school office.
Emergency Closing
WJR, 760 on your AM dial, will carry information in the event of an
emergency school closing. If the weather is bad, monitor WJR for school
closing information.
Visitors
All visitors must register at the school office upon entering the
building and when they leave. Visitors will be directed to their
appropriate place of business. Former Neil Reid students are asked to
follow the same procedures and will be assigned to a staff member when
visiting.
