Hey
Everyone! Check us out in SXI 4!
As you go through our pages, you’ll
see we’re BUSY BUSY BUSY, yet having FUN FUN FUN!!! On a typical day you
will find us working on a variety
of goals such as attending, gross
and fine motor, socialization,
communication (picture
identification &
choice-making), comprehension,
switch hitting, and self-help/daily
living to name just a few.
We incorporate all these objectives
into fun and educational activities
as you can see by the
pictures included on our classroom
site.
You’ll
see us doing Art (our tissue paper
Fall trees), Attendance & Weather
(picture identification), Jobs
(getting milk), Computer Play and
Cooking (with switch), Standing and Walking with appropriate
ambulatory devices, and Music (with
Elvis, of course!)
As you
go through our classroom site, you
will also see our Daily Classroom
Schedule. It will show you what a typical day
looks like in our room with
“Special Activities” listed during
both the A.M. and P.M. where you will
find us doing any of the
special activities that were listed
above.
Also
included once or twice weekly are
our Speech, Physical, and
Occupational Therapies as well as
Gym, Swimming, and Community-Based
Instruction.
On
occasion we make our World-Wide
Famous Home-Made Cookies as a
classroom fundraiser. We’ll have our
students take orders from around the
school while using a switch.
(Parents also have an opportunity to
pre-order our cookies as well.) We
use the money for little things we
need for our classroom that the
students will shop for during
Community-Based Instruction.
Last,
but most definitely not least, we
annually jump right into the global
celebration of Elvis Week every
August where we do a variety of Elvisy activities, such as making
and selling fried peanut
butter and banana sandwiches,
decorating Elvis T-shirts, participating in Elvis Musical
Chairs, and playing Pin the
Sideburns on Elvis…while still
meeting our goals and objectives and
our FUN objectives as well!
So,
take your time and we hope you enjoy
our site!
