Meet Jacob
Who Had To Be Found

spacer

At six months, Jacob was a quiet baby. He rarely made any noise at all. Jacob's mother wasn’t sure what to do…so she called Project Find. Project Find helped Jacob’s mother learn why he was so quiet, and found him the help he needed.

What it is
Project Find is a national effort seeking out children and young adults who aren’t receiving the special educational services they need.

Project Find is looking for children who have difficulties learning; children who have trouble walking or running; who are deaf or don’t hear well; children who are blind or don’t see well; children who don’t talk clearly;  and children confined to beds or wheelchairs.

Macomb County has more than 19,000 children with special needs. The people working with Project Find believe the worst thing that can happen to those youngsters is nothing.

Student Eligibility
Project Find is looking for any person between birth and 26 years old who is not receiving special educational services and who has not graduated from high school.

Services Available
Project Find operates a telephone hotline to answer questions and provide help to anyone concerned about a child's development.

The Macomb County Project Find hotline is (586) 228-3463.
The Statewide Michigan Project Find toll-free hotline is 1 (800) 252-0052.

Project Find offers FREE evaluations to determine whether a child has a special need. Project Find will refer the child to a program that provides the help he needs.

Community groups presentations, displays and informational literature are an important part of Project Find. Project Find representatives also can provide parents with information about the growth and development of children.

Program Location
Our Project Find is located in the Macomb Intermediate School District’s Educational Service Center 44001 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038.
