Referral - The student is suspected by
parent(s), school staff or other professionals as being
disabled. A referral is submitted.

| 30 School
Days between Parent Consent to Evaluate and Initial IEPT Meeting |
Parent Consent is Received
Parent/guardian returns the consent form giving permission to
evaluate. IEP must be convened within thirty (30) school
days. An evaluation may be requested.

The student receives a comprehensive MET
evaluation by a team of MET professionals. The MET members
determine the student's level of educational performance.
The MET makes a recommendation based on the eligibility criteria
outlined in the state law. The MET report is presented at an
IEPT meeting.

IEPT Meeting is Convened -
- Parent is invited to the meeting
- Eligibility is determined based on the state rules and
regulations.
- Programs and/or services are recommended based on the
student's level of educational performance and his/her unique
educational needs.
- The IEP is developed. Signed parent consent to
deliver the initial program and/or services obtained.

from Initial MET |
Three Year Re-evaluation
Every three years, Special Education students must receive another
comprehensive evaluation followed by an IEPT meeting, at which
eligibility and program are reviewed. |
