Support and Related Services Overview

Support and Related Services (outlined in the Federal Individuals with disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are available to students with disabilities who are enrolled in a special education program.  Special education support services are provided if the service is necessary for the student to meet their IEPT (Individualized Educational Program Team) goals and benefit from special education.

Our department serves students who need support to benefit from their educational program.   These students may have challenges that prevent them from taking full advantage of their schooling without support.  Related services are provided at the request of the student's local district.

Special education students may be referred for an evaluation or a classroom consultation may be requested.  Service provision may be direct or consultative dependent upon the IEPT specifications to maintain or facilitate the educational process.  When appropriate, classroom adaptations and staff training are utilized.
