The 83 acre fort includes the Great Lakes Indian Museum, the National Museum of the Tuskegee Airmen, a restored Commanding Officer's House, the Spanish-American War Guardhouse and a visitors center.

The museum contains over 12 acres automotive and aviation memorabilia as well as many user friendly, interactive exhibits. The museum also contains unique items such as Lincoln assassination artifacts.

Not recommended for children under 6th grade. Parent discussions should occur before taking your children here. The museum has explicit displays, videos, and photos. They give an insightful and emotional look at the European Jew during the Holocaust

Monroe's firey role in the War of 1812 comes to life through this museum. Troop movement is illustrated with the use of a large wall map equipped for fiber optics displays. "Remember the Raisin" was the battle cry.

Plan a relatively short visit. The Sarah VanHoosen Jones farmstead is a rambling estate nestled in the center of Stoney Creek Village. 19th century rural Michigan life comes to life in this facility. Archaeological digs are in progress.

Air Force and National Guard exhibits are contained in several buildings. Numerous now-grounded Navy and Air Force planes are on exhibit on the grounds. Most children will be highly interested in all the aircraft which continually fly overhead.

Everyone will enjoy climbing up and down the spiral staircase and running around the outside picnic area of the oldest lighthouse in operation in the United States.

Huron Lightship Museum

Lightships were used to warn ships of shallow waters before the era of the electrically lighted buoy. The Huron Lightship was built in 1920 and was anchored about 6 miles north of the Blue Water Bridge. It was the last lightship operating in the Great Lakes and retired from active duty in 1971. A self guiding tour takes you around the two decks which are open to the public.

According to records, between 1836 and 1865 more than 5000 fugitive slaves passed through the windowless cellar room of the Second Baptist Church. The tour begins in the chapel and visitors are led down a narrow staircase into a once barren room where murals depict freedom routes etc. Sitting in the actual hiding room is an emotional experience.

The village features the furnished Grettenburger farmhouse and Unruh barn, Randall one-room schoolhouse, Heathman house, Proctor tollhouse, and gazebo. Changing exhibits tell the story of Michigan's pioneers.
