this museum. Troop movement is illustrated with the use of a large

farmstead is a rambling estate nestled in the center of Stoney
Creek Village. 19th century rural Michigan life comes to life in

buildings. Numerous now-grounded Navy and Air Force planes are on

Lightships were used to warn ships of shallow waters before the
era of the electrically lighted buoy. The Huron Lightship was
built in 1920 and was anchored about 6 miles north of the Blue
Water Bridge. It was the last lightship operating in the Great
Lakes and retired from active duty in 1971. A self guiding tour
takes you around the two decks which are open to the public.

According to records, between 1836 and 1865 more than 5000
fugitive slaves passed through the windowless cellar room of the
Second Baptist Church. The tour begins in the chapel and visitors
are led down a narrow staircase into a once barren room where
murals depict freedom routes etc. Sitting in the actual hiding
room is an emotional experience.
