CITW With ELL (English Language Learners)

March 23, 2019 - 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM

Event Description

Classroom Instruction That Works with English Language Learners is a new two-day course offered at the MISD for K-12 teachers and staff that have attended CITW training in the past.

· This comprehensive training will guide teachers of students acquiring English and includes teaching tips with each strategy to make it easier to work with all students, no matter their stage of language proficiency.

· New tools and steps help you align your instruction of second-language learners to the higher-order thinking skills called for in the state standards. A template helps you select key vocabulary and grammar to design instruction that helps students engage in productive academic discussions.

· English-language learners (ELLs) have specific needs and challenges that require a different approach. The nine proven Classroom Instruction That Works (CITW) teaching strategies are applied to the stages of language acquisition to make it easier to work with all students, at any stage of language proficiency or grade.

· This course will unlock new techniques and strengthen your instructional planning, making it easier to know when to use research-based instructional strategies with ELL students at every grade level.
