Transitions and Printing

One of the last steps in preparing for your presentation is adding transitions and preparing handouts. You can apply one transition to all slides.

Transitions:

  1. Choose Slide Transitions from the Slide Show Menu.
  2. From the pull down menu circled on graphic on the right choose the transition you would like to use. Notice that as you select a transition it will be shown using the "Key Image".
  3. Select a speed (slow, medium, or fast).
  4. Choose if you wish to use a timer.
  5. Add a sound if you would like.
  6. Click Apply if you want these settings for this slide only. Click "Apply to All" for using the transition with all of your slides.

Printing

PowerPoint allows you to print:

  • Slides 1 to 6 per page
  • Outline View of Slides
  • Speaker Notes
  1. Choose Print from the file menu.
  2. At the bottom of the Print Dialogue box is a pull down menu shown at right.
  3. From the Pull Down Menu, choose the format for printing.

Slides: Prints one slide per page.

Handouts (2 slides per page): Prints two slides per page. No room for notes.

Handouts (3 slides per page): Prints three slides per page with lines in the right hand column for participant or speaker notes.

Handouts (6 slides per page): Prints six slides per page with out room for notes.

Notes Page: Intended for speaker notes. Prints one slide per page and the speaker notes. The page is 50% slide and 50% notes.

Outline View: Prints a text outline of your presentation.

Note: You can adjust the layout for printing by going to the View Menu choosing Master and then selecting Handout Master.

Headers and Footers

You can also add Headers and Footers to your slides and or handouts.

  1. From the View Menu choose Header and Footer.
  2. There are two tabs. One for slides and one for handouts.
  3. Add the information you want to include on each (Date, Name, Organization) and click Apply or Apply to All.
