Creating a School Newsletter
COMMENT: Students will have the opportunity to explore Internet newsletters to view the various formats and varied content.Students will take notes listing formats and content they found appealing.Later,the entire class will agree on one format. The teacher will then create an HTML template. Students will then be divided into groups of 3-4. Each group will determine the name, content, etc. of their newsletter.
The template can be altered to adjust for the needs of individual groups.
ACTIVITY: While viewing the above web sites, students will be encouraged to answer the following questions about each:
- Which newsletter was most appealing? That is in terms of font, background, etc.?
- What did you like best/least about each site?
- Which subject divisions did you like best/least?
- Which newsletters listed the number of visitors?
- Which had E-mail as an option?
