Hearing Impairment Consultation

Consultation services are available to local district general or special education staff working with students who have hearing impairments.

Specific services which may be provided are:

  • Provide information about how a student's hearing loss affects participation in the curriculum.
  • Suggest accommodations that can be made in the classroom.
  • Assist at IEPT meetings to clarify student's needs related to hearing loss.
  • Observe students in the classroom and provide other suggestions to the teacher.
  • Speak with students help assess current progress, needs, and plans for transition.
  • Meet with teachers, ancillary staff and/or parents to discuss student needs.
  • Conduct inservice meetings with school staff regarding hearing impairments.
