Michigan Model For Early Childhood Health

September 17, 2020 - 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Event Description

Target Audience: Early childhood teachers and staff

The Michigan Model for Health Early Childhood Module offers early childhood educators a resource that contains a set of age appropriate health activities.

Establishing positive health habits at a young age increases the likelihood that a healthy lifestyle will be maintained throughout life.

The early childhood module complements the K-12 modules of the Michigan Model for Health curricula by using similar lesson structure, providing emphasis on family involvement, and maintaining an overlap of specific health topics.

Key features:

  • Adaptable to an early childhood learning environment.
  • Aligned to Michigan Early Learning Expectations
  • Aligned to National Health Education Standards
  • Includes a take home Family Resource Sheet for all activities
  • Activities are designed to be repeated as needed and do not require sequential implementation
  • Includes scaffolding strategies and suggestions for differentiated learning

During the training, the Early Childhood teacher will learn about the various activities that involve the young learner in healthy habits. The teacher will also practice the skills and approaches to work with the Pre-K student in implementing the modules.
