Becoming a Next Gen Science Teacher

August 15, 2022 - 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Event Description

The Next Generation Science Exemplar (NGSX) is a professional development program to explore the major ideas found in the National Research Council Framework and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), which are the Michigan Science Standards (MSS). This program, which focuses on the practices of developing and using models, engaging in argumentation, and constructing explanations, will allow you to engage as adult learners with science content and classroom cases as well as reflect on your own classroom. Through the content of “matter” all K-12 teachers will learn and practice the pedagogy shifts in the NGSS. At the same time, teachers will see classroom examples of modeling, argumentation and constructing explanations in practice. You will immediately be able to apply your new knowledge to your own classroom practices.
