(NTA) Virtual - Supporting Secondary Instruction w/MeL eResources

February 21, 2023 - 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM

Event Description

Target Audience: New Teachers (1-3 years)

Presenter(s): Ann Kaskinen

This workshop is being planned as Virtual, please do not arrive at the MISD for this workshop.

Would you like to know how to access publications such as American History, The Atlantic, Educational Leadership, Essence, Golf Magazine, Literacy Today, PC World, or People for FREE?  How about FREE eBooks (including literary classics) that all your students can access simultaneously from the school building or from home?  Are you interested in ACT or AP test prep materials?  Perhaps you’d like to know how to find cited images, video clips or primary source documents.  In this session we will walk through seven or eight databases available through the Michigan eLibrary, learning how to share these eResources with students and colleagues.

Please Note: Most sessions are being planned as face-to-face, or a hybrid offerings. If needed, we are also planning fully remote professional learning sessions. If sessions are being offered remotely, the dates and times are subject to change.

Registering for this workshop automatically enrolls you in the 2022-23 Macomb New Teacher Academy.

First, second, and third year teachers are welcome to attend as many 2022-23 New Teacher Academy workshops as they choose for a yearly fee of $150.00. In this spring of 2023, Macomb County districts will be billed $150.00 per teacher participating in the Academy. Please check with your district regarding payment of this fee (whether you are responsible for payment).

Any no shows/late cancelations will be charged $15.00 per session. Please cancel in writing no later than 7 days prior to the workshop start date. Please email any cancellations to Alex Bryan, abryan@misd.net.

No phone cancellations are permitted.

The NTA will be providing a light meal before each afternoon workshop. In case of special dietary needs, participants should provide their own meals. Adjustments will not be made in menu selections or registration fees.
