Target Audience: New Teachers (1-3 years)

*NEW TEACHER ACADEMY PARTICIPANTS: Registering for this workshop automatically enrolls you in the 2019-20 Macomb New Teacher Academy. First, second, and third year teachers are welcome to attend as many 2019-20 Academy workshops as they choose for a yearly fee of $125.00. In the spring of 2020, Macomb County districts will be billed $125.00 per teacher participating in the Academy. Please check with your district regarding payment of this fee (whether you are responsible for payment). PLEASE NOTE (New Teacher Academy Participants): We cannot accept credit cards for payment.

Designed for teachers new to social studies, this session will explore the updated 2019 Michigan Social Studies Content Expectations as well as the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework. We will consider the recent call for more inquiry in Social Studies teaching and learning by exploring Michigan centered curriculum and resource options such as the MC3, MI Open Book, and GIANTs as well as tools such as the Inquiry Design Model, Read.Inquire.Write., and other online resources. Presenter: Sean McBrady
