Improving IEP Quality and Student Outcomes Through the EBR Process

Event Description

TARGET AUDIENCE:  Macomb County team members responsible for IEP development, including special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, school social workers, school psychologists, OTs/PTs, and general/special education administrators. 

Local districts and PSAs in Macomb County are invited to have a team of 4-5 staff members registered to participate.

Team members must commit to participating on all dates of the training.

The Educational Benefit Review is a time-tested strategy to examine multiple, consecutive years of IEPs in order to determine a student’s growth/change (i.e., educational benefit) over time. Cohort participants will understand and practice the Educational Benefit Review (EBR) process in order to apply it to IEP development in the local district. 

Initial and final training dates will be held at MISD.  Guided practice sessions will be conducted in the local district. 

Initial training date:     November 18, 2019 - 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. AND

Final training date:       March 23, 2020 - 8:30a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Guided Practice

*Between November 19, 2019 and March 20, 2020 ~ local teams will conduct two EBRs

under the guidance of MISD consultantson dates chosen by the local district.

9 SCECHs have been approved for this training.  Participants MUST attend both dates to qualify.
