In this session we will take an in-depth look into one of the 8 effective teaching practices from NCTM's publication Principles to Actions, "Implement tasks that promote reasoning and problem solving".  We will look at the characteristics of tasks that require a higher level of student thinking and share resources for finding tasks.  We will share a framework for enacting tasks with students and begin to think about how we can use these types of tasks as a formative assessment tool.
