    This workshop will train teachers to use the Reading Mastery Level K and 1 programs through hands-on active practice. Teachers will learn to apply direct instruction techniques to accelerate the acquisition of literacy skills for their students and enhance their understanding of direct instruction teaching techniques.

    This event is scheduled for 12:15pm to - 3:30pm

    Language for Thinking builds upon the concepts, vocabulary, and statement patterns introduced in Language for Learning. A placement test is used to determine if Students should be placed in Language for Learning or Language for Thinking. Carefully organized sequences of activities, exceptional vocabulary development, extensive practice, sequencing and retelling exercises, and inference activities set the stage for reading comprehension and the grammatical analysis of written language. Language for Thinking includes instruction in Classification, True/False, Analogies, and Absurdity that emphasize reasoning and Critical thinking. This program can be used as a supplement for an entire classroom in first grade, or with small groups of students needing language skills for thinking and problem-solving. This course will provide practice with the Language for Thinking materials and direct instruction teaching techniques.
