The Behavior Specialist Consultant at the Macomb Intermediate School District partners with students, families, educators, school teams, and community-based providers to support positive behavior and safe, effective learning environments for students who are all eligible for special education services. This role provides observation, consultation, and direct support to local districts serving students with significant behavioral needs. The consultant assists teams in developing and refining Functional Behavior Assessments and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans, designing structured classroom management systems, and creating data-based behavior monitoring systems to guide effective educational and behavioral decision-making. The Behavior Specialist Consultant also serves as a resource for parents and families by supporting understanding of behavioral interventions, legal requirements, and collaborative problem-solving. In addition, this role supports districts in interpreting and implementing behavior-related legislation, including seclusion and restraint requirements. Through collaboration, prevention-focused practices, and evidence-based interventions, the Behavior Specialist Consultant helps school communities implement consistent, supportive approaches that promote student success across academic, social, and emotional domains.
